Sweets made by man using artificial or natural ingredients play very different roles. People in general love sweets that are made from real ingredients because everyone's lives are so filled with the artificial that they all now looking for something natural and pleasant. Some of the natural ingredients that go into making candies are cane sugar, beat extracts, corn syrup, mint etc.

There are a few candy makers that make honey candy and the best of them make these candies using only natural ingredients. These candies may cost a little less than cough drops as they are not certified as medicated even though, they are soothing to the throat. Since, they use natural ingredients they sell at a premium candy price and are very much worth every penny. Most honey candies are made from corn syrup, as this is more of a natural sweetener and help the candy from turning granular or making the whole batch gritty. There are two varieties of corn syrup and those are light and dark corn syrup. The difference in these is only in the type of corn that is used. If you are making these honey candies at home, it's best to use the light corn syrup as that will give a brighter color to the candy.

The honey filled candies we get in the market today do not only have a honey filled center but the outside hard candy shell also gives off a taste of honey. These candies normally come in packets of nine or ten where each candy is mostly about an inch long and is also individually wrapped. Not all the kids take a fancy to these honey filled candies but those that do, usually have a higher resistance towards sore throats and the honey also acts as a mild antiseptic healing cuts and bruises inside the mouth. Another good thing is that, honey is the only food which never spoils the shelf life, so these candies long last.
